Asian Architecture
This module gave an insight on the elements and norms of Asian architecture. Conducting site analysis engaged us in a lot of observation and interacting with the architecture itself, enhancing our perception of Asian architecture.
Project 1: Case Study Paper
In-depth research was conducted to enhance our understanding of Asian architecture where a specific topic is chosen and studied closely. Architecture design is integrated to research where identification and analysis of specific elements bring the ideas of Asian architecture to light. Presentation and a written paper were done to complete the project.
Project 2: Documentation Study
Hands-on project where our group visited Jalan Tun Samanthan and practiced various methods of observing, analysing and documenting the architectuaral, cultural and historical context of the site. The architecture was reinterpreted in forms of photography documentation, annotated briefly. Through this project we understand historical developments of the architecture at our site, where the clash between traditional architecture and urbanism is most prominent. A A2 map and a photobook were composed and compiled, which can be accessed via the icon below, labelled our thematic title, "Small Things".
