Practicum: Internship Training & Report ARC 2615

For our practicum, the module is intended to introduce and expose students to the working environment of architectural practices. The module requires students to take up a full-time internship for a period of 2 months, followed by a comprehensive report on the overall training.

During my internship conducted in Garis Architects Sdn. Bhd., I was given the opportunity to participate in projects of various phases. It is important to get familiar with the procedures of law and legislation in application to architectural drawings such as the UBBL. While design development requires a lot of careful planning and consideration as the client requires, the process is enjoyable as we scanned through various design treatments in a short amount of time. Authority submission was something new to me as well, as I help with the building plan submission for a project. Forms and documents were to be completed and attached as the requirements state.

While it takes a while to comprehend the procedures and requirements of Building Plan submissions, I am able to comply with the stated requirements for submission. Furthermore, my supervisor guided me by pointing out the correct way to label and annotate an architectural drawing. Upon completion of the internship, I wrote up and compiled my report and logsheets as a record marking the end of this module.
