Building Services
This module serves as an introduction of building services and their application in actual buildings. Understanding of the types of building services were developed through studies, research and on-site explanation by pioneers in the field.
Project 1: Case Study and Documentation of Building Services Systems
This group project was conducted on a selected existing building, where we were required to identify and analyse the services within the vicinity of the case study. Our chosen building was Prima 9, an office building located in Cyberjaya.
In a group of 6, a thorough study and report was written based on the analysis of the following service systems in the building:
i) Mechanical ventilation and air-conditioning system
ii) Electrical supply system
iii) Mechanical transportation system
iv) Fire protection system

Project 2: Applications of Building Services|Integration of Services into Design
As a demonstration of our knowledge and understanding on building services, basic services are required to be integrated into our design from Studio 2, which is a retreat house along Pantai Kerachut. By putting services into consideration when designing, a seamless combination can e made while issues such as inadequate space and placement of services can be avoided. Services enables a design to become functional as an operating building that can accommodate the needs and comfort of its occupants.
The results of the integration is presented in the following boards, divided into 4 basic systems, namely:
i) Electrical supply system
ii) Water supply system
iii) Sewarage & sanitary system
iv) Storm water drainage system
